Tumor Markers - chapter 3

The level of the tumor marker is a measurement of the aggres-
siveness of the tumor. The higher the figure is, the more
aggressive the tumor is.

Let’s take pancreas cancer as an example. We have an
effective tumor marker for pancreas cancer called CA-19-9.
Healthy people have a CA-19-9 less than 37, and at Humle-
gaarden we have seen measurements from 50 till 530,000.
A tumor with a high figure is of course to be treated much more
aggressively than a tumor with a low figure, which possibly isn’t
cancer at all. We have also seen cases of this.

Let’s take a case story with a high tumor marker:

A 41-year-old Swedish female, married and the mother of two,
was sent to the local hospital on 19thJanuary, 2005 due to a 4
week stomach ache. During the hospitalization a right side
breast cancer with lung- liver and  bone metastases was found. In the liver there were multiple metastases in both lobes
measuring 1-2.5 cm. Furthermore, densifications in both lungs
were spreading, measuring 2-3 mm. Additionally, the bone
scintigraph showed multiple activities in the whole spine, both
sides of the ribs, the breast bone and both sides of the shoulder
area, with many abnormities in the pelvis and thigh-bone. The
patient’s tumor receptor was estrogen positive and progeste-
rone negative. Furthermore, a large lymph tumor was found in
the right armpit.

On arrival at Humlegaarden on the 12thFebruary, 2005, the
CEA was 5,767 (normal count is less than 2.5) and the CA-15-3
was 313 (normal count is less than 30). The two tumor markers
that we use regarding breast cancer, CEA and Ca-15-3 were
both significantly increased.

We started treatment with an increasing dose of the mistletoe
remedy Helizor M as well as local hyperthermia and other treat-
ments, and on the 17th February the patient started treatment
using the chemo drugs Xeloda, Farmorubicin and Taxol every 3
weeks. Late February the patient was informed that she was
Her-2-Neu positive, and Herceptin was chosen instead of
Xeloda.

After being discharged from Humlegaarden on the 14th March
2005, she continued the hyperthermia treatments as an out-
patient and the cancer disappeared gradually. The tumor
markers fell and were completely normal by the beginning of
September.

She stopped her treatment with Taxol and Farmorubicin in the
middle of October, but continued to take Herceptin every 3
weeks and is still taking it. She started taking the anti hormone
Femar on 20thOctober 2005 and is still taking it.

She had her ovaries removed on the 8thDecember 2005, and
also her right breast was removed – just to be on the safe side.
Tests showed no cancer tissue.

The last tumor markers were measured in January 2006 and
were completely normal. No cancer remains in the liver, lungs or
the bones. This is what we call a complete remission.

She recently took a ski holiday in Piemonte, Italy and at our
latest contact with her in the middle of March 2006 she was
doing fine and follows our injection program using Helixor M 50
mg 3 x per week as well as other different liver remedies.

The family now lives a perfectly normal life, her husband tells us. It is unusual for a breast cancer patient (seen from a tumor
marker point of view) to have a higher CEA than the CA-15-3,
and furthermore most unlikely that the CEA was this high. This
proves to be an extremely aggressive cancer.

As we see and as we have stated so many times, the combi-
nation between herbal remedies/ hyperthermia and the
traditional cancer treatment gives an outstanding result.
